Twin Cities World Refugee Day

Event Description

CAPI USA and the City of Brooklyn Center present Twin Cities World Refugee Day 2020 (TCWRD2020).

Minnesota has a long history of welcoming new members into our communities, and we honor that tradition with this event. TCWRD provides a platform to welcome, honor and celebrate the contributions and cultures of Minnesota’s 120,000+ refugees, while also raising broader community awareness on the plight of refugees worldwide. Three refugee community leaders (i.e., Visionary, Innovator and Youth) are profiled along with 10-15 different cultural artists/groups and more than 70 organizations and vendors.

This family-friendly event is set to attract a diverse audience of 4,000+ people who have come to Minnesota from around the world. More than 20 nationalities will be represented and numerous community leaders are expected to be in attendance.

The event will feature:

-Food Trucks and vendors representing dished from around the world

-A cultural stage featuring more than 10 performing artists

-A Global Market showcasing local vendors and art

-Immersive educational opportunities to learn about refugee and immigrant experiences

-Children's activities

-A community mural project led by a local artist

-21+ Beer Garden

-Resource fair to connect community organizations and initiatives
